Student Handbook

Adopted: June 6, 2003 | Revised: June 14, 2010

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to another year at KIPP West Atlanta Young Scholars (WAYS) Academy!

We are about to embark on an exciting journey. We are delighted to have as a part of our KIPP WAYS Family. Our first seven years have been extraordinary, and each year seems to get better! When students leave KIPP WAYS Academy, they will have the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in top quality high schools, colleges, and the competitive world beyond.

In order to be successful, parents, staff, and scholars must become partners and each person must do his or her part to foster an environment in which every child can succeed. This handbook has been designed to communicate the basic policies that we must follow to ensure that each child can attain the high standards we have set. Please go over the policies with your scholar(s) and keep this handbook handy so that you may refer to it as necessary. Please be aware that this handbook is updated and revised each year. There are several changes to this year's handbook, so it is important that you read the entire document.

I am looking forward to a powerful and positive year. Please feel free to reach any of your child's teachers or me at any time. Together, we will work to ensure that every student at KIPP WAYS Academy is successful and soars to greater heights!

Sincerely,

Kimberly D. Karacalidis
School Leader

The scholars sorted through, organized, and packed up books that were sent to children in Africa. The scholars even got a chance to write messages on the boxes encouraging the students to read!
