About the School Leader
Kimberly Karacalidis comes to Atlanta from Belton, SC. Prior to her teaching career, Mrs.
Karacalidis received a B.A. in Religious Studies from Agnes Scott College in May 2000. She then went on to join Teach For America in Atlanta, and worked with students from several different grade levels at Oglethorpe Elementary School, where she taught for three years. Prior to starting at KIPP WAYS Academy in 2003, Mrs. Karacalidis completed her last year of graduate work at Georgia State University, where she received a Master's in Early Childhood Education. Aside from her elementary teaching experience, Mrs. Karacalidis has also taught 6th and 7th grades through the Reach For Excellence program, where she designed and implemented several of her own courses. Prior to being appointed Assistant Principal, Ms. Karacalidis taught 5th grade math for three years at KIPP WAYS Academy and was the recipient of the 2004-2005 Excellence in Instruction Award.
